Academic Background
Dr. Lawrence Misa Aboagye graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Agriculture (Crop Production) in 1986 from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ghana. After graduation, Dr. Aboagye joined the CSIR-Oil Palm Research Institute for his national service. He was awarded the Japanese Government Scholarship to do his post graduate at the Faculty of Horticulture, Chiba University for his M.Phil. degree in Crop Production and Management and graduated in 1993, followed by his PhD. in Production and Management of Biological Resources which he was awarded in 1996. Dr. Aboagye was appointed as a Research Scientist in 1993, a Senior Research Scientist in 2001 and a Principal Research Scientist in 2007. Dr. Aboagye was appointed as the Director of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute (CSIR-PGRRI) from July 2010 to June 2021. He was promoted to the rank of Chief Research Scientist in January 2013. He was a Senior Lecturer (Sabbatical) at the University of Education, Winneba, College of Agriculture, Mampong Campus, 2013 -2015) and a Part Time Lecturer, University College of Agriculture and Environmental Studies, Bunso.

Awards
A bronze award won by Dr. Aboagye at the Research Initiatives Conference in 2014 as well as a gold prize won at the Africa Biodiversity Challenge Award (2019)
