Dr. Paul Smart Osei-Kofi

Librarian

Dr. Paul Smart Osei-Kofi holds a Ph.D Information Studies degree from the University of Ghana Legon (2023), a two year MA in Publishing Studies, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Kumasi (2015), BA in Information Studies and Sociology (2006), Diploma in Archives Administration University of Ghana Legon (1998). He was employed as a Senior Library Assistant in 2000 and has risen through the ranks of Principal Librarian in 2003, Assistant Librarian in 2006, Librarian (Non-PhD) in 2016, and to Librarian with PhD in 2023. Dr. Osei-Kofi was a Senior Superintendent Teacher-Librarian, Ghana Education Service from 1998-2000, and a Senior Catechist of Catholic Diocese of Koforidua Eastern region of Ghana from 1990 to date.

During his tenure as Librarian, Dr. Osei-Kofi successfully contributed to development of a database of passport data for the CSIR-PGRRI Ghana genebank. Dr. Osei-Kofi has excellent communication and publishing skills with thirty scientific and technical publications to his credit. His current project is on “Women’s participation in STI research, capacity building and mentorship programmes: the trends, barriers and enablers (WESTIR)”. The research interests of Dr. Osei-Kofi revolves around Dissemination of Agricultural Information, Bibliometrics, Scientific Communication, Publishing and Information Studies. Dr. Osei-Kofi is an Intellectual Property Desk Officer at the CSIR-PGRRI, and has contributed to the registration of copyright of handbooks on eggplant, cowpea, okro, pepper, and tomato, and passport data on yam, cowpea, and pepper.

Dr. Paul Smart Osei-Kofi is consistently pleasant, tackling all assignments with dedication. He possesses outstanding inter-personal skills, ability to work with minimal supervision and firm commitment that exceeds expectations. His professionalism is a well-balanced blend of competence and cordiality. Dr. Osei-Kofi is a member of the Ghana Science Association, the Ghana Library Association, and Koforidua Diocesan Catechist Association.
